DISCHARGE MACHINING

Electrical discharge machining consists in removing material from a conductive part, eroding it to give it the required shape and dimension using electrical discharges. This technique allows us to machine all electricity conductive materials (such as metals, alloys, carbons, graphites, etc.) however hard they may be.

Depending on the results expected and the end-use of your part, we will guide you towards 3 types of discharge machining :

  • Electrical discharge machining by sinking, which machines the workpiece using an additional, shaped electrode which is sunk into the piece.
  • Wire electrical discharge machining which is used to cut a workpiece following a ruled surface using a wire guided by a plane and angular movement.
  • Rapid drilling by discharge machining which drills very hard materials using a tubular electrode.
